Nether Coordinates
Convert Overworld and Nether X/Z coordinates in both directions, with explicit rounding options.
How to use Nether Coordinates
What you will get
Convert Overworld and Nether X/Z coordinates in both directions, with explicit rounding options. Output: Copyable coordinates. You can use this tool without connecting a Minecraft or Microsoft account.
Nether coordinate calculator and converter
Convert Overworld coordinates to Nether coordinates by dividing X and Z by eight, or convert back by multiplying them by eight. Y stays unchanged as a reference. Choose exact values, floor or nearest-block rounding before copying.
For example, Overworld (800, 64, −320) becomes Nether (100, 64, −40). Negative values are supported; flooring −0.125 gives −1. This calculator does not inspect nearby portals or determine a safe portal location.
Does this Nether portal calculator find a safe portal location?
It converts coordinates only. Divide Overworld X and Z by eight for Nether coordinates, or multiply Nether X and Z by eight for the return direction. Y is left unchanged as a reference. The calculator does not inspect terrain, locate existing portals or guarantee which portal will connect.
Worked example
Overworld: X = 800, Y = 64, Z = −320 → Nether: X = 100, Y = 64, Z = −40
Use the coordinate result
Example: Overworld (800, 64, −320) becomes Nether (100, 64, −40) with Exact selected. Reversing that result gives the original X/Z. Y is preserved only as a reference. The calculator does not search existing portals or choose a safe build position.
Common problems & next steps
Negative results round differently than expected
Floor rounds toward negative infinity: −1 ÷ 8 becomes −1 when floored. Exact keeps −0.125. Choose your rounding mode before copying.
A portal connects somewhere else
Coordinate scaling is only part of portal linking. Nearby portals, search rules and suitable positions also affect the actual destination.
Copy is unavailable
Enter a finite value in all three fields. Clearing the form disables copying until a valid result exists again. If clipboard access fails, select and copy the output manually.
