How to use Pixel Emoji & Font Maker
What you will get
Draw pixel emojis, export PNG, or collect up to 32 custom glyphs in a Java or experimental Bedrock font resource pack. Output: PNG, Java font ZIP or Bedrock MCPACK. Java resource packs target 1.21–1.21.1, format 34. Bedrock resource packs use manifest v2; custom block add-ons target 1.21.80. PBR exports declare separate Vibrant Visuals 1.21.120+ / RTX 1.21+ targets. See the export settings and compatibility note for this tool.
Minecraft-style pixel emoji maker for PNG images
Draw a pixel image or import a PNG into the 16 × 16 editor. Export PNG, or add up to 32 drawings to private-use character codes in a Java or experimental Bedrock font pack. Choose Java glyph height, replace a saved drawing or remove an entry before downloading.
The custom glyph is not a Unicode emoji available on every device. Enable the Java font resource pack on every viewing client, then copy a character from packlab-glyphs.txt into supported text. A tellraw example is included. Normal text uses the vanilla font references; other packs may reserve the same codes. Bedrock uses 256 × 256 font sheets with 16-pixel cells. Import existing sheets to preserve untouched characters, or use a new E2 page. In-game display remains untested.
Can I use the pixel emoji PNG directly in Minecraft chat?
A PNG alone remains an image. For chat glyphs, draw an emoji, open Make a Java / Bedrock chat font pack, choose a private-use character code and add the drawing. Download the font ZIP, enable it on every viewing client and copy a character from the included list. The pack also includes a tellraw example. Experimental Bedrock font output uses 256 × 256 glyph sheets. Use E200–E2FF for a new page, or import an existing sheet to preserve other cells. Every viewer needs the same font pack.
How to draw a Creeper-inspired pixel face
For a simple green pixel-face exercise, use the 16 × 16 grid. Fill a green square, choose a dark color and draw two separated square eyes. Add a short central nose, a wider mouth underneath, then extend both lower corners of the mouth. Change colors and proportions to make your own interpretation. Download the transparent PNG or a larger pixel-sharp copy. This draws a small face image, not a full character or an in-game chat emoji.

Use your PNG or Java / Bedrock font pack
Export PNG for an image, or open Make a Java / Bedrock chat font pack to assign up to 32 drawings to private-use codes E000–F8FF. Add each drawing, set glyph height and download the Java ZIP. Enable it on every viewing client, then copy the character from packlab-glyphs.txt. The included tellraw example selects packlab:emoji explicitly. Normal text keeps vanilla references. Other packs may conflict with the same codes. For experimental Bedrock export, select Bedrock and use E200–E2FF for a new sheet, or import the existing glyph_XX.png page to preserve other characters. Bedrock cells are 16 pixels; Java display height does not apply. Download the MCPACK and enable it on every viewing client. In-game display is untested.
Java resource pack ZIP
- Use Java 1.21–1.21.1 for this format-34 export. Keep the downloaded ZIP intact.
- In Minecraft, open Options → Resource Packs → Open Pack Folder. Copy the ZIP into that folder.
- Return to Resource Packs, move the pack into the selected list, then choose Done. Give it priority over other packs changing the same texture or sound.
If Minecraft reports an incompatible version, check the target before enabling the pack. Renaming the ZIP does not convert its version. Test your result in a separate world.

Bedrock resource pack MCPACK
- Save the MCPACK and use your device’s Open with / Share action to open it with Minecraft Bedrock.
- Wait for the import result. In a test world’s settings, open Resource Packs → My Packs and activate the imported pack.
- Open the world and inspect the replaced texture. Check pack priority if another active pack changes the same item.

Common problems & next steps
The PNG will not appear in Minecraft text chat
Add the drawing to a Java font pack, enable the ZIP on every viewing client and paste its private-use character. PNG alone does not add a glyph. Game rendering and server text filtering still need validation.
The enlarged image is blurry elsewhere
Use the exported pixel-scaled PNG at its original output size. An external app may smooth it when resizing again.
My image has empty space around it
Imports keep their aspect ratio and fit inside 16 × 16 pixels, so wide or tall PNGs leave transparent space. JPEG is not accepted here; export it as PNG first. Undo restores the previous drawing.
